Welcome
Field TripsField trip to National Museum... On Saturday, April 30, 2016, we went to the National Museum in Jakarta. We saw a lot of interesting artworks and information that was really useful. The artefacts were really fascinating too! They really put strong effort into their artwork. They also mentioned a lot of information about the artworks. There was no tour guide so we were on our own adventuring through the artworks. We saw stone arts, traditional instruments, plates, artefacts, stone statues, jugs, globes, wooden weapons, and more. Field trip to Pameran Tetap... After visiting the National Museum, we went to the art gallery in Pameran Tetap which was so amazing! The art works were absolutely incredible. It was so creative of them to use different materials to create their artwork. Some of them used glass, wood, paint, stone, recycled materials, etc. This museum displays more modern artworks but some had traditional ones too. There was an artwork that was absolutely terrifying for us and it was the ant eating the sugar. We thought it was terrifying because there were huge ants and it creeped us out. But the best artwork we saw was the glass with different pictures and colours on it that were multiplied behind each glass, it created an effect like a shadow behind each glass but with colors. |
Interviews
On Tuesday, May 3 2016, we interviewed Ms. Irma and she had some good answers. Her answer were really truthful and understandable.
The interview questions we asked:
1. Is art important to you? Why?
- Answer: Yes, art is important to me and also other people because you can express yourself through art. For example, you can write poems, languages and do math through art. For math, you can draw diagrams and more. You can express yourself and your feelings. Some art forms have a message behind the painting, the painting itself is sometimes reflected about what you want or what you don't want.
2. What are the basic things we should know about visual art?
- Answer: The basic things you should know about visual art is if you ask your own knowledge, you have to learn the elements and the principal of art. For example, elements is like when you want to make the cake, you need to have the flour, eggs, sugar and milk, so basically it's the same as what we call the elements of art. But by the artwork, you call it the principal of art. It can be for the wedding cake and birthday cake. So we need to know how to make it beautiful and we call that one the principal of art.
3. Do you express your feelings through visual art?
- Answer: Sometimes I express myself through writing because I love to write usually when I'm very bored. I like to draw anything as long as I can express myself, so I can release my boredom.
4. What is the connection between feelings and visual art?
- Answer: Like I said, in the previous one, there is a message of people's expression. That's the connection between feelings and visual art..
5. What inspires you to do art?
- Answer: Honestly, I got inspired by my grandfather, because my grandpa is a painter. I didn't realize he was a famous painter because when I was young, I went to his art exhibition and there is like Popo Iskandar. There was Akula, there was Efindiin in that exhibition and when I observed their painting I saw a similarity in their painting such as Popo. He painted a painting about cats and my grandfather usually uses lines, from that line, he created something. So, I was asking my grandfather why that person only drew a cat, I can draw a cat by myself, even better than that one. My grandfather was laughing and he said that was art. From that one, I learned how to appreciate other people's artwork and my grandfather also told me to not stop teaching art because art is very universal and it's you.
6. What motivates you to do art?
- Answer: First, I can show how I feel to everyone else and it could be when I am happy, bored or something. Art can also develop people like myself like expressing my imagination. For example, I want my own styles of clothes so I'm going to design it myself. So people can achieve what they want through art.
